Not many of these early cars left and not in the excellent condition that this car is in. Can jump in her and go anywhere. Been wine tasting in France, and all over UK without any problems. Last year we did Lincolnshire to Somerset, then to Lulworth Cove carrying on to New Forrest for the Bentley Drivers Chairmans Tour, before returning home again. Did not miss a beat during the 660 miles averaging 18 mpg.
947 Mark VI Standard Saloon
This is my first Bentley purchased in 2006 from a bit of a dodgy dealer, not recognising that the steering was too heavy, just assumed it was like my series land Rover.
Named after my Grandmother (Mabel) she is a wonderfully practical classic car.
4 1/4 litre straight six engine with a four speed box. One of the earlier “Small bore small boot cars”. She happily keeps up with modern traffic averaging 16—18 mpg.
We have taken her on a wine tasting trip to Burgundy, and travelled extensively in the UK.
Over the years she has been “well sorted” mainly by Daniel Moore & Co. Regularly serviced and driven, she is in wonderful condition. Steering, suspension, brakes, including new drums, radiator, clutch, king pins, too many other minor items. New battery last year.
Does not use any oil or water between annual services. Full history for the last 19 years but nothing much before hand.
She did not miss a beat on a recent 664 mile trip to Somerset, Dorset and the New Forest
She has appeared in one of the Endeavour Inspector Morse Series and was used by comedian Alan Carr for one of his series for the best designer a couple of years ago.
